How the score works

There are 15 questions in four areas: Pricing & profit, Cash flow & getting paid, Sales & leads and Operations & crew.

Each answer scores 0, 2 or 4 points. Your total is scaled to 100, and each area gets its own score out of 100.

Your three tips come from your lowest-scoring answers, starting with the ones that cost contractors the most.

80+ strong systems · 60–79 solid with gaps · 40–59 room to improve · under 40 start with the basics.

Examples

A busy remodeler, score 58

Strong on sales (they follow up and get reviews) but low on cash flow: no milestone payments and changes done on a handshake. Tips: milestone billing, signed change orders, same-day invoices.

A new GC, score 42

Prices by feel and doesn’t know overhead. Tips: work out overhead, price from real costs, and stop mixing up markup and margin.
